Cuban Sandwich Recipe

Cuban Sandwich Recipe

  • Traditional Cuban sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Cuban Spice (see recipe)
  • 1/2 tbsp Coarse Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 lb boneless pork loin
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 each soft Kaiser rolls, split
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 16 slice dill pickle
  • 16 slice thinly sliced ham
  • 8 slice Swiss cheese

Directions

  1. Combine Cuban Spice, cracked black pepper and minced garlic.
  2. Rub onto surface of pork roast.
  3. Place roast in a covered baking dish.
  4. Add water to bottom of pan.
  5. Bake at 350F for 1 hour, 15 minutes or until roast is cooked through.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.
  7. Using 2 forks, shred pork roast.
  8. Stir shredded pork into pan juices.
  9. To assemble sandwiches: Spread mustard on rolls, top with spiced pork, sliced ham, dill pickles and Swiss cheese.
  10. Press sandwiches together lightly.
  11. Heat large skillet.
  12. Add several sandwiches; top with another heavy pan to press sandwiches down.
  13. Cook 3 to 4 minutes, until roll is toasted.
  14. Flip and cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes until roll is toasted and cheese has melted.
  15. Serve immediately or hold in a warm oven.
