Toffee Bars Recipe

  • Easy enough for a weeknight treat and special enough for weekend entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1 cup butter OR margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract, pure
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. Combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in large bowl.
  3. Beat in butter, egg and vanilla with electric mixer, on low speed, until dough holds together.
  4. Press into well greased 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  6. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips; let stand 5 minutes.
  7. Spread chocolate evenly over top; sprinkle with pecans.
  8. Cut into bars while still warm.
